From Grit to Glam: Kitchen Revamp

When I first started this blog, my goal was simple: to share my love for flowers and the beauty they bring to everyday life. I wanted to inspire a more beautiful life—for you, for me, for all. But as my journey continued, I realized that my love for florals stemmed from an even deeper passion: transformation. I’m drawn to making spaces more beautiful, more functional, more alive. Sometimes, flowers are enough to achieve that shift, but other times, it calls for something bigger. Much bigger.

So here we are: my kitchen transformation - from grit to glam! (pictured below from glam to grit)

When we bought the house, the kitchen wasn’t just outdated—it was downright gross with its tile countertops and plywood cabinet doors. At first, I gave it a facelift with fresh white paint, but eventually, a full remodel would be the only answer.

We decided to keep the kitchen's footprint as is—no moving plumbing or gas lines, which can be a real headache in an older home. We also chose to maintain the upper shelving to preserve some of the house’s original charm. The revamped space now boasts new lower cabinets, a farmhouse sink, a white subway tile backsplash, sleek soapstone countertops, and modern appliances. We even replaced a small window with French doors, swapping out an old backdoor that led to a neglected carport. It truly was as rough as it looks in the before photos! Sometimes, I reflect on it and think we were either completely clueless or a bit crazy.

The transformation didn’t stop there. We turned a little hallway into a walk-in pantry, complete with a small window for natural light and a sunny spot to grow fresh herbs. We also created a dining nook. I slipcovered the loveseat with a simple tablecloth, creating a cozy corner that seamlessly connects to the kitchen.

This kitchen remodel was more than just a project; it was a reminder that transformation, big or small, is always worth the effort. I hope it inspires you to dream big and go for it—the results are always rewarding.
